As of today, York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will allow another adult to accompany mums-to-be at dating scans.

The other adult must be from the same household bubbles.

Partners were banned because of coronavirus restrictions but the health trust says it is working to increase access so pregnant women can be accompanied.

"We are very aware how difficult it has been to not have your partner with you for all scans and we have been working to increase access for partners," said the trust on social media.

"With effect from December 16, women attending for a 12 week scan will be able to bring an adult partner from the same household bubble to their scan appointment.

"Because of limited waiting space you should arrive on time, not early.

"Your partner may be asked to wait outside of the unit until you are called into the scan room when they may join you.

"We will work over coming weeks to further increase partner access and will keep you informed of any changes on the website and social media."
