Latest Scarborough borough coronavirus infection rate as roadmap set to be revealed

The borough’s seven day infection rate per 100,000 people is now 57 up one from its low of 56 on Friday but still down from 80 a week ago.

Scarborough is averaging nine new cases every day.

The average infection rate for England stands at 121 while in North Yorkshire it is now 85. Both of these are sharp drops from seven days ago.

The number of people who have died in the borough within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 has increased by one over the weekend to 193.

Today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will reveal the plan to start lifting the county out of lockdown, starting with schools returning on March 8.

It is anticipated that limited outdoor social contact will also be allowed from that date with a second easing coming on March 29.

A press conference is scheduled from Downing Street for 7pm tonight.

Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
