Eat Me cafe to continue to operate from Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre until next year

The award-winning café, named as a Local Gem in The Good Food Guide every year between 2015 and 2020, has been operating from the first floor bar lounge at the world famous theatre since the beginning of August in a ‘pop-up’, Eat Me @ The SJT, which has proved popular with both regulars and new diners alike.

Now, the arrangement has been extended until February 28 with the café opening from 10.30am to 6.30pm on Mondays to Wednesdays, and from 10.30am to 7.30pm on Thursdays to Saturdays.

Owners Martyn Hyde and Stephen Dinardo say: “We’re thrilled to confirm that we’ll be in residence at the Stephen Joseph for another six months.

“Space at our premises in Hanover Road is quite tight, so for the safety of our staff and customers, we wanted a temporary space where we can provide much greater social distancing.

“We have a long-standing and close friendship with the theatre and they’re just across the road: their spacious first-floor bar lounge has proved to be a perfect space for us over the last month.

“Keep an eye out for special deals linked with cinema and theatre productions at the SJT, and follow our social media for exclusives!”

The theatre's executive director Caroline Routh said: " Eat Me Café has been a brilliant supporter of the theatre for many years now. We're absolutely delighted to welcome Martyn, Stephen and their fantastic team to the theatre in a partnership that we hope will prove fruitful for both of us."

The cinema at the theatre re-opened in late August, and the theatre has announced an autumn season of both live and digital shows, starting on October 1.

Both Eat Me @ The SJT and the Stephen Joseph Theatre are operating in accordance with current legislation and guidelines, and both have been awarded the VisitEngland ‘We’re Good To Go’ industry standard and supporting mark.
