IN PICTURES: The Castle Trail - A fascinating guided walk through some of Scarborough's hidden gems

The Castle Trail is a 2.3-mile route with a small incline (200ft). Discover the Scarborough Monument, John Sheilds Ryalls' grave, Peasholm Pagodas, Scarborough Castle, St. Mary's Church, Butter Cross, the Grand Hotel, Spa Bridge and the Spa.

There are huge benefits to outdoor activities, such as stretching your legs, spending time with family and friends and exploring what the local area has to offer. However, sometimes it can be hard to find accessible trails with interesting sights along the way - and this is where North Yorkshire County Council' s Discoveries on your Doorstep comes in.

The website and Facebook page provide information about existing and future trails, events and activities.
