TENERIFE is the most popular holiday destination for jet-setters departing from Leeds Bradford Airport over the festive period, it has been revealed.
The island boasted high temperatures of 23C (73F) yesterday compared with Scarborough’s 10C (50F).
Other popular destinations are Geneva, Krakow, Belfast and Alicante.
Amsterdam, Malaga, Lanzarote, Venice and Fuerteventura round off the top 10.
Tony Hallwood, commercial director of Leeds Bradford Aiport, said: “Domestic routes such as Bristol and Belfast are also popular for those visiting friends and family over the festive period. We also anticipate an increase in the number of inbound tourists visiting Yorkshire to sample the region’s famous hospitality and beautiful scenery.”
The airport is preparing for an expected 48,000 departing passengers over the Christmas period.
