Luke Austin has applied to Scarborough Borough Council to have chairs and wooden tables outside of the Sands development on the seafront at Peasholm Gap.

According to the plans the proposed outside seating area would be for a “cafe with [a] temporary tensile structure” above it.

The seating would straddle land owned by both Scarborough Council and North Yorkshire County Council.

The plans are now out to consultation.

The piazza was created outside the Sands development in 2016 as part of a Yorkshire Water legacy project following its multi-million pound water quality improvement scheme carried out in the town between 2012 and 2014.
