An event celebrating the history of Ayton has proved popular with the local community.
The local history day was held at Ayton Village Hall on Saturday and gave visitors the chance to see artefacts and items discovered in the East and West Ayton areas.
Visitors were invited to take part in a trail quiz, view photographs from the past and guess the identity of mystery objects. People were also able to discover and build their own family trees, with the help of Riana Beecroft, from East Yorkshire Family History.
Joy Tomlinson of the Ayton Jubilee Committee, who helped organise the event, said: “The village hall at East Ayton was packed with local people and visitors looking at the artefacts, local news items and photos of the past.
“The community spirit was very strong with the day achieving what it set out to do, bringing the local community together to talk and remember”.
Joy expressed her thanks to Scarborough Museum and local people who had donated items to display at the event. 133225.
