A64 closure: Man airlifted to hospital following 'serious collision'

The single vehicle collision involving a ‘wagon’ and transit van was reported to North Yorkshire Police at 9.34am.

The eastbound carriageway is closed at the Malton Interchange at Golden Hill prior to the dual carriageway. The westbound was closed to allow the air ambulance to land but has since reopened.

A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police said: "We’re at the scene of a serious collision on the A64 Eastbound near Malton.

"One person has been taken to hospital by air ambulance with what looks like serious injuries.

"CIU are attending and so Eastbound is likely to be closed for some time."

Traffic is currently being diverted through Malton and motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
