Scarborough YMCA is celebrating after receiving support from Lloyd Dowson, Chartered Accountants, Tax and Business Advisors.
Lloyd Dowson, which has offices in Scarborough and Bridlington, sponsored a fundraising show, Our House, and supported the purchase of new projection equipment for the YMCA.
The projector has already been in use during several YMCA shows, proving it is a valuable resource for the venue.
As well as being used by the young people who attend YMCA Productions and Y-Musical theatre, the equipment is also available to the many groups who use the theatre to showcase their performances.
David Dowson, chairman of Lloyd Dowson, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support the young people at the YMCA.
“We realise what a difference having this equipment has made to enhancing the shows and the experience for those who are performing.”
Steve Marsh, executive director of Scarborough YMCA, said: “The help we have received from Lloyd Dowson has been exemplary.
“They understand and value the work we do to support local young people through sport, theatre and performing arts and volunteering, and we are enormously grateful to them.”
Despite the YMCA giving so much to the local community, it receives no regular grant funding to help meet the costs of its work with young people.
That is why the support from local groups and businesses such as Lloyd Dowson is so important.
The Scarborough YMCA would love to hear from people who value their work.
Young people are at the heart of every production at the YMCA and this year, will be involved in more than 130 performances, undertaking roles including sound, lighting, backstage, set construction and front-0f-house as well as performing on stage.
