Air ambulance called to serious crash which closed the A171

Emergency services including the air ambulance were called after a crash which shut the A171.

One person was taken to James Cook University Hospital by Yorkshire Ambulance Service after the accident, understood to have happened shortly before 9.21am on Saturday.

Police had to shut the road between Scaling Dam and the Runswick Bay and Sandsend turnoff.
