One of Britain’s most popular ‘pub landlords’ Al Murray is coming to the coast as he brings his UK tour to Scarborough.
He will perform at The Spa’s Grand Hall on March 21 next year as part of his The Only Way Is Epic tour.
The booking marks an early coup for Sheffield International Venues, which is taking over operations at the South Bay venue, as it is the first big act it has secured in partnership with Scarborough Council.
Helen Broadbent, The Spa’s new general manager said: “We have been working with Scarborough Borough Council for the last few months on the programming of entertainment for The Spa in preparation for our takeover on October 1.
“We are delighted to have Al Murray in the programme at the Spa and we hope that he will be the first of many big names in the venue.”
This new, live stand-up show from the multi-award-winning comedian, directly follows the nationwide success of his twice extended Barrel of Fun tour, and is expected to sell-out fast.
The production has been described in the national media as “Wickedly Witty Stuff” and “Actually deserved the tag genius”.
Al Murray joins The Spa’s ever increasing bill of stand up comics with Rhod Gilbert, Chris Addison and Scarborough born Paul Tonkinson all set to perform in the coming months.
Tickets for The Only Way is Epic show at Scarborough Spa go on sale on Friday at 9am.
They are available from the Spa’s box office on (01723) 357869 or via www.scarboroughspa.co.uk
Sheffield International Venues formally begins its 10-year contract to run the Spa on October 1. It will also be operating Whitby Pavilion and Scarborough Spa Cliff Lift.
