A huge congratulations to Alex Hutchinson, Year 9, who has won the final of the annual Malton School cookery competition.
A total of 80 students took part in the competition to create the best Scotch egg.
Students had to adapt the traditional recipe to create their own unique Scotch egg.
There were several competition heats in school before six students competed in the final, which was held at the Malton Cookery School during the Food Festival.
Alex’s Scotch egg had a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg in the centre, and was flavoured with a secret blend of herbs and spices.
The judges, local chefs Matthew Beaver and Paul Bough, were very impressed with Alex’s demonstration of technical skill and so awarded her the prize.
