Filey Allotments Association currently has eight plots available and nobody on the waiting list.

They are only for people who live in Filey and the surrounding villages.

Allotment secretary Helen James said: “We’ve got a nice, friendly site on Muston Road, just over the crossing off Gardeners Court.

“We have a real mixture of people – old and young, families and couples. Everybody gets a lot out of it. It can be hard work but it’s very rewarding as well.

“Come along and join us if you like growing and eating your own produce!”

The allotments have a community feel with a shop on site and a yearly show, which this year takes place on August 5. Quarter plots and £13.50 per year and half plots are £27. Membership costs £2 per year and it allows you to use the on-site shop. Anyone who is interested can call Helen on (01723) 513762. You can also speak to chairman Mike Nesfield on the same number.
