A LOCAL businessman will be swapping his suit and office for climbing gear and the heights of Africa when he tackles Mount Kilimanjaro next month.
Anthony Finegan, who works as a finance director at Spectrum Cleaning, has spent 18 months training and hopes to raise £5,000 for children’s charity Daisy Chain.
He said: “My 10-year-old son is mildly affected by autism and I went along to Daisy Chain and I just said ‘how I can help this fantastic facility’?
“We’ve been walking over the Dales and lakes but nothing’s comparable.
“It could be the start of many; there’s been talks about doing Cotopaxi, the Inca trail, and some colleagues have been talking about Everest!”
Anthony is heading out with a group of 18 and begins the hike on February 12.
So far he is just £1,000 away from his fundraising target. You can donate money online via www.just-giving.co.uk/anthony-finegan.
