VOLUNTEERS are being sought in the Scarborough area to help out with Girl guiding groups and activities.
Girl guiding Scarborough West Division is calling on residents to give some of their time to help girls and young women enjoy a range of exciting opportunities.
People can get involved in various activities or perhaps take on a role such as treasurer, fundraiser, or occasional helper.
As well as weekly meetings, girls take part in a wide range of trips, and outings, and the division is planning a very special day in July to celebrate the Olympics.
Activities will include archery, shooting, climbing, inflatable assault course, as well as circus skills and crafts.
Girl guiding UK has an ongoing campaign to seek out more adult members. The organisation is hugely popular, with more than half a million members and volunteers around the UK.
The campaign is supported by Scarborough Guide and Ranger leader, Amelia Scholey, who said: “Volunteering with Girl guiding UK gives me a huge sense of achievement when I think of how much the girls in my unit have grown in confidence in the time I’ve known them.
“I have also become more confident and the skills and experiences I have gained through guiding really influenced my decision to start my own business.”
Girl guiding UK offers a range of flexible volunteering opportunities to enable girls and young women to grow in confidence in a safe, girl-only space.
