A Scarborough author is asking people to get in touch with old photographs, postcards or information that might be of interest for his new book.

Robin Lidster, of Newby, has written a number of books for Amberley Publishing’s “Through Time” series, comparing local scenes then and now.

These include Robin Hood’s Bay and Fylingthorpe, Newby and Scalby, Burniston to Ravenscar and the Scarborough to Whitby railway line.

Mr Lidster is now working on a book about the Scarborough to Pickering railway line and is hoping local people will get in touch.

He said: “I’d be very interested to hear from people, whether it’s about the railway line, the stations along it or the villages themselves. If anyone has any old photos or picture postcards I’d like to see them.”

Mr Lidster’s books show how locations have changed over the years, often with a new photo taken - by the author - in exactly the same spot as the old one.

He said: “I enjoy it and the books have been very well received. A considerable number have been done as part of the series by authors all over the country.”
