Pupils from a Scarborough school are looking for generous people and companies to donate to their annual Christmas party for senior citizens.
Pensioners from the town are invited to George Pindar School where pupils will host the party on December 15.
Year 7 pupil, Ellie Caw said in a letter to The Scarborough News: “We do this in the hope of spreading a little Christmas cheer with them. Christmas is a time of coming together and sharing some happiness.
“A lot of the elderly people that are invited spend a lot of time with little of no family.
“In their lives they will have done a lot for both their towns and countries. So now it’s our turn to pay them back and put some fun into their Christmas.”
Fellow pupil Polly Bilton added: “The elderly community may not go out much or see their friends so this will brighten their day.”
The school is appealing for the public and companies to donate prizes for the free raffle and bingo which will be held as part of the party.
Alister Thompson, a year 7 pupil, said: “This is a wonderful event so please support us.”
Donations can be made by dropping in gifts to the school or alternatively call on (01723) 582194 and the school will collect them.
