Appeal for stories on The Forest

SCARBOROUGH’S budding writers are being called upon to enter a short story writing competition celebrating the world’s forests.

The competition, set up by The Woodland Trust’s VisitWoods project, WWF, and Progressio, is calling for short stories that will inspire people about woods and forests.

Stories must be original work, no more than 500 words long and fit the title “The Forest”.

Entries must be 500 words or less and can be from any perspective and in any style or genre. The competition has two categories - children aged 16 and under and young people and adults 17 and over.

First prize is a complete set of 10 Penguin books of the winner’s choice.

All entries must be received by Monday August 31.
