Apprentices from Dale Power Solutions in Scarborough are set to begin work renovating a historic shelter in the gardens behind the Spa Complex.

The youngsters are taking on the project as part of the 2015 Brathay Challenge, which involves raising awareness of apprenticeships, fundraising and a community project. These have to be managed by the apprentices themselves, along with their current jobs and college work. The refurbishment of the shelter, which was designed by the late Joseph Paxton, will take many weeks and will involve a range of activities, such as decorating and repairs. The team is also working on fundraising ideas with the aim of raising money for local charities. They have been in touch with the team at St Catherine’s Hospice to share their plans.
