Detectives investigating two robberies in Scarborough are asking for the public’s help to locate a suspect.
Ross Claincy, aged 26, who is from the town, is believed to be involved in these incidents.
The first offence took place at around 6.40pm on Sunday, at Peasholm Stores in Columbus Ravine, and the second occurred at 6.45pm on Monday, at Chisholm Bookmakers in Westbourne Grove.
On both occasions the suspect threatened shop staff with a knife and demanded money. He then left the stores with an amount of cash.
Claincy is described as white, around 6ft tall with a medium build and short brown hair.
Detective Constable Toby Forsdyke, of Scarborough CID, said: “We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry to locate Ross Claincy, who we believe is connected to both incidents of robbery in Scarborough.
“As part of our effort to arrest the suspect, we are appealing to local residents and shop staff to come forward with any sightings of a man matching Claincy’s description or anyone who knows of his whereabouts.
“If you can help the investigation in any way, please get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”
DC Forsdyke added: “I would like to reassure local business owners that we are doing everything we can to locate the suspect and police patrols have been put in place to deter further incidents.
“In the meantime we advise people working in shops to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour in and around premises.”
