Local author John Cooper has produced a collection of short stories under the title “Tales of the Curiously Unfortunate”.
He was inspired to write the collection so people can dip into the stories while travelling or on holiday.
John, aged 79, an award-winning playwright and published poet, started his writing career on the Dewsbury Reporter and subsequently worked on several provincial daily and national papers. He now lives in Scarborough Old Town .
When he first left Grammar School aged 16, he attended textile college and now claims to be the only author with a diploma in Shoddy and Mungo Manufacture!
John was awarded a BA (Hons) Degree at Hull University and his poetry appears in two university anthologies.
He also formed “Writers on the Loose” with two colleagues from university who were regulars in the Fringe event of Scarborough Literature Festival.
