Award-winning Hunmanby brewery Wold Top has brewed up Coastivale in honour of the three-day arts festival, which is held from 12 to 14 February.

The beer, described as a golden pale ale, triple hopped to give a fruity bitterness, will be going on sale in local pubs.

More than 100 events, shows and attractions – the majority of them free – will be staged in and around Scarborough during Coastival.

Coastival’s organisers, Scarborough-based arts development agency Create, say it is the first time a beer has ever been created for Coastival.

Director Wendy Holroyd said: “We are thrilled that Wold Top is supporting Coastival 2016 and honoured to have our very own beer!

“I’m sure it will be very popular and go down a treat!”

Wold Top Brewery was founded in 2003 by arable farmers Tom and Gill Mellor and is based at Hunmanby.

It uses traditional methods and recipes to brew real ales with character and over the years has won many awards for its beers.

Gill Mellor, Wold Top Brewery director, said: “Wold Top Brewery is passionate about supporting the arts, so we’re delighted to be working with the Coastival team and supplying the special Coastival Ale to pubs and restaurants in Scarborough.

“We wish the team every success with this spectacular series of events.”
