Two mums who became friends after having their sons in Scarborough Hospital on the same day have given birth to daughters two years on - on the same day.
Michelle Noble, 29, of Snainton, and Claire Ottaway, 33, of Crossgates, were stunned when they found out they were both due to have a Caesarian on July 30.
Claire said: “Michelle found out she was expecting and I didn’t know I was at the time, but I found out a few weeks later.
“It was a complete coincidence and we didn’t plan it at all! My due date was a bit later than Michelle’s, but Evie came early as we had to have the date moved forward.”
Evie was born first at 10.11am, weighing 6lb 6oz, and Isabel was born at 12.06pm, weighing 6lb 4oz.
The mums had beds next to each other - just like they did first time round when Michelle gave birth to Henry and Claire had Ben two and a half years ago.
Both mums have praised the care they received at Scarborough Hospital - including everyone who looked after them from the midwives to the anaesthetist.
Michelle said: “They made sure we could be next to each other and nothing was too much trouble. They were fantastic.”
Claire added: “The midwives said they’d never heard of anything like this happening before and that it must be a one in a million chance. They even commented that the girls look alike.”
The pair hit it off straight away when they met in hospital and always stayed in touch since, meeting up every Monday to go for a walk with the kids and a catch-up.
They went to the same baby groups, including baby massage at Surestart in Briercliffe.
Michelle and Claire, along with husbands Tom and Rob, are thrilled to be parents again - this time to little girls.
Michelle said: “It’s really exciting. We’ve been talking about having joint birthday parties!”
Claire added: “It’s just so special. They’ll always be friends, just like the boys are. I’m hoping it will be just the same for the girls.”
