‘Be Surprised’ at what St Catherine’s provides

PEOPLE in Scarborough would ‘Be Surprised’ to discover what St Catherine’s Hospice does - that’s the theme of the first ever Hospice Care Week.

This week, St Catherine’s and hospices across the UK hope to raise awareness of hospice care and address the misconceptions that people may have about what that care is.

David Marshall, director of funding development, said: “Many people think that Saint Catherine’s only provides end of life care, but are often surprised to find out we also care for many more people in their own homes, in day care and through counselling and family support.”

To mark Hospice Care Week, St Catherine’s, along with hospices across the UK, is asking their local communities what hospice care means to them – in one word.

A gallery of words will be shared on the photo-sharing site Flickr.

People are urged to Tweet their word between now and Friday, followed by #hospicecareweek, www.besurprised.org.uk
