Easter bonnets competiton, a cake stall, sponsored exercise biking and rowing and face-painting – these are some of the fundraising ideas which could see a children’s charity quids in.
Staff at Matalan in Scarborough are taking part in a number of events in a bid to raise more than £1,000 for the NSPCC.
Fundraising efforts start tomorrow and will run until Monday (except Sunday when the store is closed).
Tomorrow the staff will be dressed as bunny girls. They will also be cycling and rowing on machines 167 miles – the distance between the Scarborough store and Matalan head office in Liverpool.
Buckets will be put by the side of the equipment so customers can put in cash.
Saturday will see the staff dressed in red, white and blue in honour of St George’s Day.
There will also be a cake stall.
The fundraising efforts continue on Easter Monday.
The bonnet competition is split into two categories; three to five year olds and five to eight year olds. It costs £1 to enter and bonnets can be taken to the store until April 29, the day of the royal wedding.
Entries will be displayed in the window. The winner will receive a £50 Matalan voucher. “Nationally, Matalan wantes to raise £500,000 for the NSPCC,” said manager of the Scarborough store Bev Nunns.
