Scarborough Athletic chairman Dave Holland has hailed Saturday night's sportsman's dinner featuring Neil Ruddock as a big success.
Around 150 people attended the dinner at The Spa and they were entertained by the anecdotes of former Liverpool and West Ham defender Ruddock, as well as the comedy of funnyman Jed Stone.
Holland, who sat on the top table alongside Ruddock, Stone, Jimmy Beadle, Mitch Cook and Steve Roberts, is hoping the club are involved in more of these events in the future.
"It was the first of this kind of dinner that I have ever been to, I really enjoyed it and everyone else did as well," said Holland.
"You didn't have to be a fan of Spurs or West Ham to have a good night. Neil's anecdotes were very entertaining and, being the club's chairman, I had to have thick skin because the comedian's tongue was quite sharp.
"The event was well managed and well promoted, I would like to thank DG Events and Geoff Osguthorpe from the club for that.
"We don't have the figures yet, but I know that it has been very beneficial for the club.
"It would be great if we could put something together along similar lines as we move closer to the club moving back to town."
