Boulby mine to investigate fire which broke out on site earlier today
A fire which broke out earlier today on the surface of Boulby mine, near Whitby, has now been put out.
The blaze broke out at about 10.30am in a conveyor at the mine’s polyhalite plant and was brought under control by the fire service.
No personnel were injured in the incident but surface operations were suspended for some time.
The company will be working with the Health and Safety Executive and the fire service to carry out a full investigation into the cause of the fire.
