Crowds braved the rain to watch Scarborough’s traditional Boxing Day seafront events.
The festivities got under way with the fishermen and firemen’s football match, which has been a fixture since 1893.
The firemen are not firefighters as we know them today, but the men who used to look after the fires that powered steam trawlers.
The match was followed by a raft race around Scarborough harbour, with competitors pelting each other with flour and eggs as is the tradition.
During the morning a mile of pennies stretched along Foreshore Road, with people encouraged to leave a few coins for the Fishermen and Firemen charity fund, with all proceeds going towards food vouchers for local elderly people.
