Bridlington guest house murder: Police receive more than 200 calls in search for John Heald
Police have received hundreds of calls from the public reporting sightings of wanted man John Heald, 53.
Potential sightings of Mr Heald, who is wanted in connection with the murder of Bridlington guest house landlady Bei Carter, 49, have been recorded in Wath-upon-Deane, Mexborough, Swinton and Rawmarsh.
Police are also hunting Mr Heald on suspicion of a serious sexual assault in Sheffield on Sunday 13 July.
There is a £5,000 reward offered by the charity Crimestoppers for information leading to the arrest of Mr Heald.
Specialist officers have searched numerous areas again yesterday, Wednesday 23 July, including Corton Wood, Wath-upon-Dearne Mexborough and Swinton areas.
Mr Heald is 5ft 11ins tall, of slim build, with blue eyes and short mousey brown hair. His right ear is pierced and he has tattoos on his hands and arms.
He has dots tattooed on the knuckles of both hands as well as a horse on his left hand and a mermaid and an eagle on his right arm.
District Commander for Rotherham, Chief Superintendent Jason Harwin, said: “We would like to thank the public for their continued support and for contacting us with information.
“We have had more than 200 calls about potential sightings. Many of those have been eliminated but others are lines of enquiry we are following including some following the Crimewatch appeal last night.
“I would like to remind the public there is a reward of up to £5,000 for information that leads to his arrest and I would appeal to anyone who has any information as to his whereabouts to get in touch.
“There is still no suggestion to say he has left South Yorkshire so we continue to have a large number of specialist officers from South Yorkshire and Humberside Police carrying out detailed searches.”
The body of Ms Carter was found at the Morayland guest house on Marshall Avenue in Bridlington on Friday 18 July.
If you see John Heald call 999 immediately.
