Around 500 colourful, tasty, creative and beautifully-formed creations graced the exhibition tables at the sixth Scalby and Newby Produce Show.
The show, which is run by Newby and Scalby in Bloom and organised by Bob Kendall, has grown year on year and includes show classes, ranging from cabbages to photographs, as well as children’s activities, games and stalls.
Mr Kendall said it was a splendid occasion with new interest from visitors and exhibitors.
He added: “The exhibitions were outstanding especially considering the weather conditions this year, the judges had quite a hard time.
“We had an increase of 127 entries on last year, making a grand total of 489, and there were lots of people through the doors. “Lots of new people, both young and old, took part in the show and we even drew exhibitors from as far as East Yorkshire.
“I give my thanks to all who helped behind the scenes and ‘front of house’ on the day, to our sponsors and to all the exhibitors.”
Next year’s show will again take place at Newby and Scalby Community Hall in Scalby Road on Sunday, July 27, 2014.
