A design studio founded by twin sisters from Scarborough has claimed another accolade for its excellence.

The Leeds-based studio Buttercrumble, created by Abigail and Chloe Baldwin, battled hundreds of fellow Yorkshire firms to be crowned Micro Business of the Year 2018 (Yorkshire and Humberside).

The Federation of Small Businesses hosts the annual celebrations in order to champion the nation’s best entrepreneurs.

Despite being a team of two, Buttercrumble has proven you can be both micro and mighty.

Through their shared passion, the sisters joined forces to produce illustration and design with an ethos of making others smile. The 23-year-old twins completed identical degrees at The University of Leeds in 2016 before making the city their home.

The sisters took the leap into full-time self employment in January 2017 and haven’t looked back.

They have partnered up with local businesses and organisations including Leeds Dock, The Royal Armouries, Myroo and The Little Bookshop and worked with John Lewis.

Chloe said: “If you support micro businesses, you will be boosting the local economy as most money spent with them circulates back into the immediate community.

“You’ll also be making a difference by supporting the talents of innovative entrepreneurs who have a real passion to deliver great customer service and quality products.”
