Atlas Ward Structures Ltd, the steel fabrication company based at Sherburn, has been involved in some prestigious, (literally) high profile developments around the UK.
Probably the most famous is The Shard, the tallest building in Europe, which towers on the London skyline. The Severfield Rowen group, of which Atlas Ward is a part, provided all the steelwork for the structure, and Atlas Ward itself provided all the steel staircases plus the steelwork for the spire at the top.
The Sherburn company is also working on a large tower in Leadenhall, London, nicknamed “The Cheesegrater”, and also Terminals 2 and 3 at Heathrow Airport.
Managing director Nigel Pickard said that other current contracts included three large production facilities for Jaguar Landrover in the Midlands area, and distribution facilities for Asda and Aldi.
