A SCARBOROUGH tourism website has been nominated for a national award.
The newly revamped website – www.discoveryorkshirecoast.com – was set up by Scarborough Council and has been shortlisted for the TravelMole Web Awards – in the wake of its success in scooping the prestigious British Destinations National Holiday website award for 2011.
It has been nominated in the Tourist Board category of the awards. The winners are expected to be announced later today.
Janet Deacon, Welcome to Yorkshire Area Director, said: “We are delighted that the site has reached the shortlist stage for this esteemed award and are extremely proud to have supported the transformation of the website into such a popular source of information which will hopefully encourage more visitors to the area.” It is facing competition from www.austria.info/uk, www.letsvisit.co.uk and www.turkutouring.fi/en
