Go-ahead given for wind farm

PLANS for a £700 million wind farm off the Humber Coast have been given the go-ahead by Government.

The green light for the Humber Gateway wind farm was given yesterday.

It is the second major boost for efforts to create a green energy hub in the region, following the decision by Siemens to choose Hull as its proposed site for a wind turbine plant.

The Humber Gateway wind farm will be developed by power generator E.ON and host up to 77 turbines, generating enough power for around 150,000 homes making it one of the largest offshore wind farms in the UK.
