The premises will be available to let from February 2014 following a move by the Job Centre to Albion House in Northway.

Joe Walker, head of CPH’s commercial agency, said hopes are high for local and a national interest as the building is suitable for a number of uses, including retail.

He said: “We are very pleased to bring this extensive unit to the market on behalf of our national client, Telereal Trillium.

“Rowntree House is a significant building within Scarborough’s town centre and we are expecting a lot of interest from both local and national operators.

“The unit benefits from A2 planning consent, making it viable for financial and professional services together with retailing.

“The property has a very prominent frontage, a large sales area, extensive offices and staff facilities together with a private car park.”

A spokesperson for the Department for Work and Pensions confirmed plans for a move to Albion House.

They said that a consultation between various parties, including councillors, traders and the MP, had brought up no objections.

It is hoped that by having the job centre based in Albion House, there will be “joint benefits” with other HMRC departments.
