A FIRM of Scarborough solicitors did the double at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards, walking away with two accolades.

Pinkney Grunwells Lawyers, based in Westborough, was among some of the most successful law firms across the region at this year’s awards.

The firm not only won runner-up and the Highly Commended Award for the Law Firm Category (1 to 10 partners) but solicitor Noel Barrett, from Pinkney Grunwells’ Whitby Office, had similar success in the Enterprise Award.

Pinkney Grunwells, which has offices in Bridlington, Whitby and Hunmanby as well as its Westborough office in Scarborough, was the only law firm in North Yorkshire, and one of only two in East Yorkshire, to have made it through to the shortlist for the awards.

The majority of its competitors were based in larger cities in West Yorkshire.

Speaking about the firm’s success, Richard Grunwell, senior partner at Pinkney Grunwells, said: “This is a great boost for us, we are strongly committed to the local community.

“The economy of the Yorkshire Coast is self contained and we are in an area with a large number of self employed and higher than the national average of retired.

“We provide an efficient and personal service to them at a reasonable cost, while at the same time having the experience and expertise to look after their needs.”

The Yorkshire Lawyer Awards are now in their 11th year, and this year saw the highest number of entries on record.

The awards honour members of the legal community working in niche firms right up to national and international practices.
