A works night out of loud shirts and grass skirts boosted Saint Catherine’s Hospice.

Staff from Schneider Electric at Eastfield, Scarborough, have made the hospice their local charity of the year and have already raised hundreds of pounds for patient care.

Their latest fundraiser was a novel Hawaiian mystery tour, a coach trip around some local pubs dressed in outfits which would have looked more at home in the South Seas than the South Bay. The event raised £467 for Saint Catherine’s.

Earlier, Schneider employees had presented the hospice with a bag full of cash – £937 raised through various other events.

Hospice fundraiser Debbie Kay thanked the staff for their efforts. She said: “We’re really pleased that these caring colleagues are helping the hospice – and using their charity work to have lots of fun.”
