IT is hoped that a new company will pitch its tent in Scarborough.

JD Sports bought out the Blacks outdoor store chain, which owned Millets outlets, but opted not to take over the Scarborough branch.

The former Millets in Westborough was being stripped yesterday and Michael Fawley, of estate agent Fawley Watson Booth, said he hoped the space would be occupied again soon.

He added: “There’s been limited interest so far, but we’d be very disappointed if it stuck around for a while.”

The store is being advertised on a leasehold basis for £80,000 rent with an additional £29,000 payable in rates.

It has a ground sales area of 1,036 sq ft, 425 sq ft of ancillary space and width of 7.62 metres.

A sign was put up at the store advising shoppers that the nearest Millets outlet to Scarborough is now in Beverley.
