A BEAUTICIAN is celebrating a quarter of a century in business with a move to new premises.
Not only has this year seen Jill Kelly Skincare and Beauty celebrate its 25th anniversary, it also marks the salon returning to its roots.
The business was set up in Falsgrave Road, in 1986, five years after Jill Kelly qualified as a beautician.
After eight years Jill Kelly skincare and beauty moved to a new home in Dean Road, where it remained for the next 17 years.
However, when a Georgian town house became available in Falsgrave Road, Mrs Kelly saw her chance to move to where she had always wanted to be.
Mrs Kelly, who also taught beauty therapy at Yorkshire Coast College for almost five years, said: “I have come back to Falsgrave because I just love it here.
“We are just a few doors down from the salon we started in 25 years ago.
“When the dentist moved out the opportunity arose to take over the property and renovate it.
“Because it is a listed building with have given the salon a Georgian theme, using period furniture and decorations.
“I am really pleased with the outcome. The whole building is very relaxing and calming.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in the move and the renovation.
“Thank you also to my clients and have been wonderfully loyal over the years. I am looking forward to welcoming them, along with new clients, to the salon.”
The move not only see the business move to bigger premises, but marks a step forward as the salon now owns its own property.
Mike Gould, of the Scarborough Handelsbanken banking team, guided Mrs Kelly through the move.
He said: “It is fantastic to see a business flourishing in these times of recession.
“Gill is doing really well and it is good to see someone who has been in business so long still prospering.”
