A 30-year-old Scarborough man has reached the final of a national leadership competition.
Steve Ellard, Asset Manager at Yorkshire Coast Homes, started in May this year as one of many hundreds of nominated entrants for the sixth annual 24housing Young Leaders Award, but after a lengthy process of delivering presentations, in-house shortlisting and online public voting he has now been selected as one of the top five who will contest the national final.
At the competition semi-finals, which took place in London in July, Steve presented his vision for increasing recruitment within the housing sector to a group of five judges, including National Housing Federation Chief Executive David Orr.
His delivery was enough to win him the chance to join four other finalists in presenting to the delegates in the typically packed auditorium of the NHF Annual Conference in Birmingham on Wednesday September. 21
Steve is looking forward to taking the stage for the final and said: “I’m immensely proud of progressing this far in the competition. The semi-final was tough, as there were some great ideas presented by the candidates.
As you’d expect, the best of those ideas have moved on to the next stage and that will make this final stage of the competition even more difficult. I like a challenge and am looking forward to sharing my vision for the sector.”
