COUNCILLORS have approved three planning documents relating to the development of a new sports village and football ground for Scarborough.
They were discussed by members of Scarborough Council’s Cabinet this week and contain guidance for potential developers who are interested in submitting planning applications for three separate sites – the sites are at Weaponness Valley, Filey Road Sports Centre and in Seamer Road.
Cllr Derek Bastiman, the portfolio holder for regeneration, said the planning briefs were only guidelines and the final vision would be contained in submitted planning applications to be considered by the council. He said: “The briefs are not the blueprints for these three sites.”
The Cabinet decision is set to be discussed by the full council next month with a final draft published later in November.
The council is currently looking for a suitable developer to build the proposed sports village, which would include a new football ground, at the Weaponness Valley site as well the disposal of the two other sites.
