A CAR WASH in Burniston on Saturday will help charitable youngsters build a family home in Mexico.
Drivers will be charged £5 per car and will get a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of cake.
The proceeds will go towards the £21,000 needed to fly a party of 15 teenagers aged 14-18 and six adults to Tijuana next Easter.
Over a week, they will build a pre-fabricated house for a poverty-stricken family living in a shanty town. It will have a concrete floor and wooden sides and roof.
Since a fundraising campaign was launched last month, £1,000 has been raised, says spokesperson Andrea Smith.
The car wash will be held at Burniston Methodist Church from 10am until 4pm. There will be bric-a-brac and bring-and-buy stalls.
