ORGANISERS of the forthcoming 80s Rewind show at Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre have admitted that it was an “error of judgement” to originally schedule the event for a Sunday night.
The date has been changed and the concert will now take place on Friday September 2 due to popular demand.
Spokesman Sam Shrouder said the decision was made after feedback from many people who attended last year’s 80s night, saying they could not make it on a Sunday.
He explained: “Everyone said they loved it last time and wanted to come again, but that a Sunday was not as convenient.
“Many people were planning to travel to Scarborough from away and were wanting to stay the night.
“It soon became obvious for a real 80s party, a Sunday was not the night to do it.”
He added that unfortunately, due to the change, Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley would no longer be available to perform, due to previous commitments.
However, organisers are in discussions with another act and are hoping to announce who it will be very soon.
Mr Shrouder added that tickets that have already been sold will be valid for the new date and that anyone who can’t make it will get a full refund.
Artists include ABC, Go West, Dr and the Medics plus many more.
