Charity’s appeal to help save services

A COUNSELLING charity serving people across Scarborough has appealed for help to highlight future improvements.

Ryedale Counselling Service is carrying out a consultation process for people on the needs for local services.

The move is designed to help the charity win further funding for services which are provided at two venues in Scarborough.

Following the cuts to NHS funding grants, the service faces a 40 per cent loss in its total income when the current five-year funding agreement ends in June next year.

Without the money, bosses believe it will have to drastically reduce its level of service, which is currently provided at Ryedale Community House in Malton, as well as threaten its evening and weekend counselling services.

Anyone who wishes to register their views should contact (01653) 690124.

Alternatively, anyone wanting the survey sent out to them should log on to

The consultation closes on Tuesday, November 8.
