Macmillan Cancer Support is saying thank you to Scarborough locals who took part in their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in September and made it a huge success by making a difference to people living with cancer.
Around 115,000 people across the UK took part in the coffee morning event in 2012 and helped to raise almost £14 million, which is £4 million above what was raised in 2011.
Macmillan fundraising manager for North Yorkshire Sally Millington said: “Thank you so much to everyone in Scarborough who put the kettle on and got involved.
“There are currently two million people in this country living with cancer.
“Every penny you raised for Macmillan in 2012 will help fund more of our vital services and improve lives. And for that, we think you should feel good.”
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning was held on Friday September 28.
