A childminding couple are delighted to both receive “outstanding” reports in their latest Ofsted inspections.
Suzzanne and Steve Thompson work together to run a childminding home in Cayton, Building Blocks Child Care, but are both registered as individual services.
Suzzanne registered as a childminder in 1995 and has now been awarded “outstanding” in two Early Years Register inspection reports since 2009.
Her husband, Steve, only registered in 2014 and received the exceptional standard on his first ever Ofsted inspection.
Both received “outstanding” in effectiveness of leadership and management; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; personal development, behaviour and welfare; and outcomes for children.
Suzzanne said: “I have been registered ‘outstanding’ since 2009 and I was very happy to maintain the ‘outstanding’ grade.
“Steve has only been doing this for two years and this is his first inspection.
“We are really proud of him, to get ‘outstanding’ the first time is amazing.”
Suzzanne was praised for being “highly committed and passionate about her setting, and she has continued over many years to strive for excellence”.
Children are said to be highly motivated and the inspector received “extremely complimentary” feedback from parents. Children are also extremely well prepared for school.
And Steve was complimented for how the children “display extremely good levels of behaviour, confidence and self-esteem”.
Ofsted commended them both for their “excellent” and “exemplary” partnerships with parents.
“We are very fortunate that our children and parents are so lovely – we couldn’t wish for a better bunch,” Suzzanne added.
“It’s a great report, when I got ‘outstanding’ in 2009 I thought they couldn’t have written a better report but this is amazing.”
The couple have enjoyed working alongside each other for the past two years.
