Fish and chips has been just one of the many new experiences for German exchange students Victoria, Laura and Juliane during their two-week stay in Scarborough.
The girls, from near Frankfurt, have been volunteering at the British Heart Foundation shop, in Newborough, which is also a new experience - because there are no charity shops where they live.
“In fact I have never been to one before - there are not too many in Germany,” said Laura.
The girls, all 16, are brushing up on their English language skills, while doing the work experience to meet requirements of their curriculum at school in Germany.
“Scarborough is a lovely place, but the wind can make you very tired,” said Victoria. BHF manager Lisa Rixon said; “I wish i could keep them.”
