Cider drinker photobombs council

There was an unexpected guest at the official photo of Scarborough’s new borough council.

A man clutching a carrier bag containing a bottle of cider plonked himself in the Mayor’s chair outside the town hall on Thursday.

The council had come together in the Town Hall gardens for its annual photo following the Cllr Tom Fox’s swearing in as mayor for the next 12 months.

The man took the mayor’s seat before he arrived and initially refused to leave,

He did then get out of the chair but hung around shaking hands with some of the councillors before trying to stand on the edge of the official picture.

Finally, with a bow and wave he walked off in the direction of the town centre.
