Coastguard helicopter rescues two people trapped on Scarborough cliffs who had been cut off by tide

Coastguards are urging people to check the tide times after a helicopter had to rescue two people trapped up a cliff at Scarborough last night.

The coastguard rescue helicopter joined teams from Scarborough, Filey and Ravenscar coastguards to help the pair at the South Bay at around 7pm.

They had become trapped 75 metres up after they were cut off by the tide and tried to climb the cliff.
