A SPRING coffee morning raised a welcome £500 for Scarborough Alzheimer’s Society.
The event was held at Park Manor Hotel in Northstead Manor Drive and is one of two coffee mornings held each year at the venue.
It was attended by Scarborough’s then-mayor Hazel Lynskey and deputy mayor John Blackburn, who was sworn in as the town’s new mayor yesterday.
The coffee morning featured a raffle, tombola, whiskey bottle draw and stall selling home-made cards.
Information worker Helen Williams was at the event and said: “It was a lovely day and the coffee morning was well attended.
“We always have one in Spring and one at Christmas and it’s a way of getting together with our supporters and carers.
“We were very pleased with the amount raised, which will go towards supporting out local services in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.”
The local branch offers a one to one befriending service for carers of people with dementia, following a reference by a Dementia Support Worker
It also provides emotional support, sign-posting and information through home visits and one to one support over the telephone.
